Hi everyone, my name is Mario Brown and I was just elected to be a National Delegate for Bernie Sanders
I humbly ask for your support
I need $5000 to pay for the trip. The Democratic Party does not cover hotel, airfare, or food. So I am asking for help. I don't usually like needing help, but in this case, I believe it is worth admiting that I could use some.
This moment means everything to me and this is more than just a trip. We could actually start to right some of the wrongs that we have been living with.
If you do not know me, here is what I do and have done:
I am the Director of Washington for Bernie Sanders.
Together with Chad Lupkes and a team of volunteers, we formed a statewide organization that taught hundreds of new participants how to caucus in Washington. I believe that helped us win every county in the state.
We also worked closely with the Sanders campaign even being volunteer leaders for each of his Seattle visits and working with local elected officials who have endorsed Senator Sanders.
Why do I do what I do?
My mother grew up in segregation. She never went to school with a white person...not even her own family members. She marched and fought for civil rights and was beaten and arrested repeatedly. Her neighbors always helped her with her legal troubles. One day, she asked her neighbors why they helped her (they were white) and they rolled up their sleeves and showed the number the Nazi's had tattooed on their arms. They had been liberated by America from Auschwitz. My mother asked what she could ever do to repay them and they asked her to marry a Jew and to raise her children to be Jews. This is fundamental to my life, because this couple asked my mother to give birth to more of the very people that Hitler tried to destroy.
Whether it's Germany in 1940 or Arkansas in 1950 my family has felt the burn of a government that fears, hates, and destroys people. Everything I do. Everything I will do will be to make sure my children and your children never suffer that fate.
