D. Alexandra Dyer, the former Executive Director of the Healing Arts Initiative (“HAI”, formerly, Hospital Audiences, Inc.), was the victim of an acid attack in New York last August, not long after she began employment at HAI. This heinous, unthinkable crime was motivated and committed by a woman, now under indictment, who worked for HAI and who, over several years, had stolen more than $750,000 from the Charity.
The attack occurred just two days after Ms. Dyer uncovered and revealed the theft. This story was featured on the front page of The New York Times, April 29, 2016.

A brave woman and whistleblower, Alexandra was merely doing her job, trying to make sure that 350,000 of New York City’s elderly, disabled, hospitalized and poor could continue to enjoy musical performances, handicapped seating, workshops and more courtesy of the Healing Arts Initiative.
It was Alexandra who discovered the ongoing thefts, cover up and collusion at the Charity. Unbelievably, following months in a burn unit, surgical operations and facial reconstruction, HAI now has seen fit to fire Alexandra. Victimized once again, Ms. Dyer is a hero, who put her own safety at risk to expose the wrong doing and save the Charity.
Now she needs our help for medical and living expenses. Please give whatever you can to help Alexandra Dyer get her life back and navigate the daily challenges which have become the new normal. Life changed forever in the blink of an eye when she was permanently disfigured having acid tossed in her face - her reward for doing the right thing.
