Hello All! I am Judy Dempsey from Southwest Florida and I am the Bernie Sanders delegate for District 19! I'm so psyched! I hope to vote for Bernie in Philly, but to do that I need your help! If all of us do our part, Bernie is Going To Win. Bernie 2016! While there, I will be sure to take pictures and videos so everyone can experience it with me!
First, let me tell you about how I have come to represent Bernie Sanders for President in 2016. I've loved
growing up in Naples, Florida since 1974. I left town to attend Colgate University in upstate New York in 1991-1995 where I majored in Sociology and Anthropology. I then came back to Florida to attend Stetson Law School in St. Petersburg, Florida from 1996-1998. I practiced estate law in Naples, Florida in 1999 for one year before deciding to stay home and raise a family.
My world changed after having my son and daughter! I stayed busy developing an organic garden, teaching, and volunteering at my children's elementary school. I then went on to become a P.T.O. Enrichment Director and then a P.T.O. President! When the kids went to middle school I switched gears.
Social Media provided me access to much needed information and I became a very busy soccer mom/social and environmental activist! I attended a March Against Monsanto rally in Naples, Florida 3 years ago and haven't slowed down! I organized the March Against Monsanto Rally in Naples in 2015 and am currently organizing the one in Fort Myers for May 21, 2016! I am also currently working on The Climate Mobilization Event to raise awareness here in Florida this summer on July 10th!
I've been active in the following movements and local organizations: Planned Parenthood, Women's Alliance of Southwest Florida, SURJ - Showing Up for Racial Justice, Fair Wage Coalition of Collier County, Florida Fight For $15, Stand Up For Walmart Workers, Walk for Mother Earth to stop R.O.G.G. (River of Grass Greenway), Stonecrab Alliance (preventing fracking in SW Florida), and supporting Medical Marijuana and the Solar amendments in Florida.
I discovered Bernie Sanders on Facebook during my social media activism in 2014. As soon as he got the word out he was running, I began campaigning for Bernie Sanders here in Naples. I found other supporters on Bernie's volunteer website and on Facebook and we began working together! It's been such an exciting time for all of us! I am always busy campaigning! So far I have hosted four Bernie sign waving events; organized the Bernie supporters for the Naples MLK parade; was the point of contact for Bernie supporters in Collier County (Democrats of Collier County referred all Democrats interested in Bernie Sanders to me); maintained email contact lists; and made local supporters aware of volunteer opportunities and phone banking events. I phone banked and canvassed locally for Bernie. I am still happily donating to Bernie's campaign. I've also enjoyed sharing everything I can that will help Bernie on social media!
Becoming a delegate for Bernie in District 19 gives me great honor. I hope I can go all the way and share our support for Bernie in Philadelphia! The Democratic National Convention is just around the corner starting July 25th, 2016, Democratic National Convention Ballotpedia and the more delegates who get there the closer we are to electing Bernie Sanders, a President for the People! Thanks so much for all your help to make it happen for US!!
