Gill Bittlestone was an amazing woman; a popular and successful teacher at Durham Johnston. She was a good friend, a loyal colleague and most importantly a fantastic mam to her 4 year old daughter, Sophia. Gill touched the lives of those around her in numerous and profound ways. To those who knew her it is still a shock that a woman so vibrant, so full of strength and so full of life, has been taken from us far too early.
True to her determined nature, Gill braved the diagnosis of cancer with courage and battled hard to continue her life as normal, teaching in school until a matter of days before she passed away. It is not surprising that even during her last few days she was laughing, talking about her work and of course her family.
It is in her memory that we have set up this page which gives everybody whose life she touched, the opportunity to give something back to Gill; the chance to support her precious daughter Sophia.
Our hope is that we can raise as much money as possible so that in the future Sophia will be able to use this to further her education and aspirations.
