Livi's therapy

Livi Wants to Walk
(My name is Mary and I'm organising this on behalf of my beautiful sister in law Alli and her scrumptious daughter Livi - the bit below has been written by Alli)

Livian is my intelligent, sparkling and life-loving daughter.

She is eight years old and was born with severe Cerebral Palsy (CP) after a traumatic birth experience. She loves to swim, sing, roar, laugh and run.

We have been devoted to regular therapy since she was 4 months old. She has made many gains, including starting to speak and then sing, sitting up by herself, commando crawling, frog hopping, walking and running in her walker.

Since starting school, Livi has begun to lose her ability to stand and walk. She is no longer eligible for the financial support for therapies that the government offers to pre-school aged children. She goes to a regular, mainstream school with able bodied kids and she sits in class all day. As her delightful and creative mind continues to grow and take shape, her body is also growing. Her CP affected body is growing faster than her strength and flexibility can keep up with, faster than the hours of home exercise we do each week can keep up with. To regain and maintain her ability to walk, she needs more ongoing strength and flexibility training.

Years of experience working with Livi’s body has taught me how much it helps her. And she loves it! After one hour of physiotherapy, I can see her body still, her movements become easier, her speech clearer. When she is steady in her body, I see her struggle with her physical self subside, and her self-confidence, calm and happiness shine through.

This is where your big heart and small change can make an epic difference in my little girl’s life. We have our sights set on an intensive therapy program with Therasuit Australia. This is a three hours a day program, five days a week, for three weeks.

Livi is super excited to get there and start moving her body! Her goals are to improve her crawling around on the floor at home, her stillness in sitting, and her strength and endurance in standing and walking.

I’ll be there with her for the three weeks. I can’t wait to trade three weeks of work for three weeks of life changing therapy with my heart’s delight. Included is a home program that we will continue on with after the block of therapy has finished.

I’ve saved up most of the money get us there, I just need a little financial push to get us over the line. I humbly ask that if you feel moved to contribute to a worthy cause, please think of us.
