Baby David Needs a Liver Transplant

Donation protected

Hello, this is a plea for help. We would appreciate help with medical bills, travel expenses and drug costs to help us while we wait our son's slow recovery. We were asking for someone to donate part of thier liver to help save our baby David. David, suffers from a Urea Cycle Disorder called, Ornithine Transcarbamylase Deficiency. David's liver does not have the enzymes nessesary to break down proteins, which then creates a build up of ammonia in the blood. When there is too much ammonia in the blood, it can reach the brain, where it can cause brain damage, slow growth, and development, seizures, coma, and death. http://www.uhn.ca/MOT/Living_Donor_Program

The only way to cure David is to get a liver transplant.
Waiting for a transplant donor is extremely stressful. Watching helplessly from your child's bedside is something too many parents and cargivers have to go through here at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. It is heartbreaking to see your child suffering and all you can do for your child, is to stand aside and watch, as the doctors race to figure out what is wrong, and what could possibly help, and the nurses trying to do all they can to make sure your child is as safe and comfortable as possible under the circumstances.

David was put on the deceased organ donor waiting list, however small livers are rarely seen, and there are lots of other children on the list, also waiting for livers and other organs. So there also the possibility of a live donor.

There is a huge need to live organ donation, and blood donation. Please  Consider donating your organs after death. It's not something people like to think about, however, please consider that you no longer need them, and there is always someone waiting on death's door, desperately in need of a functional organ.
Please donate blood. You can save so many lives with your blood donation. It could even be David, or someone else's child.

To get a liver from a live donor, the smallest part of the person's liver , and gall bladder will be removed. Your liver will regenerate itself! You do not need your gall bladder, as the gall bladder serves no purpose in humans anymore. The part taken from you and put into the person in need, and will form into a new, functional liver for them!

There is a program available for REIMBURSING EXPENSES of Living Organ Donors! It is a program called, PRELOD and is offered by Ontario Trillium Gift of Life Network.
