TwashukuruSchool/Rick T Memorial

Twashukuru Nursery School is located in a small village near Lamu, Kenya. This school was founded by my brother-in-law Omar Islam. Omar wanted to not only help children who were poor and could not afford school but also orphans. He also wanted to help curb the build up of garbage and plastic on the island of Lamu. The school is built using discarded plastic and glass bottles. Children are taught to keep their environment clean as well as basic education, music, and skills that can be used locally such as weaving etc.

My dear friend Rick Tincani was very supportive of me visiting this school and wanted me to help the children and he also wanted to help me to help them. Rick passed away tragically on September 10, 2015. I had to cut my trip short to come say goodbye to him. In honor of his support and in memory of such a beautiful giving man, I wanted to create this site to help these children gain an education and to honor Rick's memory as well.

Please consider helping these children and honoring Rick with a donation. Anything helps. The money raised will help to continue building the kitchen and classrooms and to help send much needed school supplies. I will have his name put on a plaque at the site.
