I want to make you aware of the Effective Altruism movement. The idea is when making charitable contributions, carefully evaluate where your contributions will do the most good. GiveWell and Giving What We Can are two organizations that offer suggestions on what charities are most effective, and they both promote the Against Malaria Foundation as having the biggest impact per dollar donated. AMF distributes anti-malaria bednets to people in Africa. The folks at Giving What We Can did a writeup last year about the impact we've seen so far on the incidence of Malaria in Africa as it relates to bednet distribution programs.
