Volunteers for Medical Outreach

Hello friends, family, and everyone who is reading this!
My name is Kathy Ho and I am currently a sophomore at UC Berkeley intending to study Molecular and Cell Biology. As someone who is pursuing a career in the medical field, my interest in healthcare grew as I became involved in organizations that brought awareness to the disparities in healthcare, such as lack of accessibility and language barriers. My passion for medicine and making healthcare more accessible has motivated me to join Volunteers for Medical Outreach (VMO). I truly believe that one’s financial background should not pose as a barrier towards healthcare. This summer, I have the wonderful opportunity to visit Vietnam alongside VMO. In Vietnam, I will be assisting doctors and dentists at mobile clinics, as well as teaching basic health lessons to children. As a Vietnamese-American who is passionate about healthcare, this trip means the world to me because I get to aid in providing free medical services, as well as traveling back to Vietnam with a different perspective. In the past, I have traveled to Vietnam to visit family; however, I hope to learn more about my culture and to serve those who lack proper healthcare during this trip.
Partnering with Aid to Children Without Parents (ACWP), Friends of Hue Foundation (FHF), and Vietnam Tooth Project (VTP), VMO is a non-profit student organization that strives to provide free and accessible healthcare to rural, impoverished areas in Vietnam. Every summer, we send a cohort of trip members to Vietnam where we help out at mobile clinics, schools, and in other sustainable projects. As a non-profit organization, we really appreciate donations! Throughout the year, we fundraise and collect donations to buy medicines and medical supplies that are needed to run the mobile and Hepatitis B vaccination clinics and surgeries.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your love and support. This means a lot to me.
