Compassion is a New York City based, community outreach ministry of Hope Church, designed to communicate the love of Christ through service to others.
We're currently raising funds to conduct our first Summer Homeless Outreach this July. In March, with your support, we were able to serve the homeless in Lower Manhattan. We hope to expand our reach in our next campaign this July.
We Need Your Help!
We're a volunteer organization, with no external fundraising support and we need your help to continue to expand our outreach efforts. Our aim is to distribute 30 Compassion Kits.
What Are Compassion Kits?
Each Compassion Kit (a durable backpack) is filled with items designed to meet the needs of those who live on the streets of NYC.
We want people to be aware of the needs of the homeless, especially during extreme seasons like Summer and Winter. As the temperatures continue to rise, the risks of overheating, dehydration and sunburn become a reality; and so each Compassion Kit will contain: reusable water bottles, sunscreen, a snap-back cap, and much needed hygiene items.
Each kit also contains a listing of drop-in centers and emergency shelters.
Where Will The Kits Go?
Once assembled by our Compassion Volunteers, the kits will be distributed by our homeless outreach team throughout Lower and Midtown Manhattan.
When Do We Need Funding?
We'd like to reach our funding goal by June 18, 2016.
