Accessible Washroom Trailer

Dear Community Partner
I am contacting you in the hope of gaining your support by investing in an innovative new concept/design to assist children, adults and seniors with a physical disability in our community. This concept/design will be the first of its kind in York Region and all of Canada.
The concept/design is a barrier free mobile washroom trailer that would be shared among participating municipalities. It would be used by caregivers of children, adults and seniors with severe physical disabilities who cannot move independently from their own wheelchairs. Unlike traditional handicapped washrooms, the barrier free mobile washroom trailer is equipped with a sink, toilet, adult change table and lift system that would lift a person from their wheelchair to the change table.
The need for this concept/design in our present day is significant. People with severe physical disabilities young and old are unable to participate fully and with dignity in their community. As a result children, adults and seniors sit in their wet or soiled briefs for a period of time until they find a place to get changed which usually means going home. In the year 2016, I feel that this is no longer a respectful or dignified manner for accommodating people with disabilities in our community.
The goal is to have the barrier free mobile washroom purchased for spring 2016 for local community events. Fairs and festivals could book or rent the trailer for the spring, summer and fall months. It would be parked at their event for the exclusive use of people with a severe physical disability and their caregivers.
In closing, I am encouraging you as a community partner to make a financial donation.
On behalf of everyone with a severe physical disability, we sincerely THANK YOU!
