I am Brenda Byrd. I am from and still live in Metlakatla, Alaska. I am married with three children and work full time as a behavioral health aide.
My family has been so supportive of my education. I am working on my Masters in Mental Health Counseling through Capella University. My main goal for obtaining my MS in Mental Health Counseling is so that I can continue to work in Metlakatla as a Licensed Professional Counselor and continue to help our people gain Wellness.
So far I have managed to keep a 4.0 GPA which has opened a new door for me as a Counseling student. I was invited to be inducted into Chi Sigma Iota, an international honors society for Counselors.
On May 12 I will travel to Dallas, Tx for my residency. I will be there for 8 days to meet with my classmates and work on projects with professors nearby. This trip is going to be essential to my education, but also it is going to be very expensive.
My my family and I would very much appreciate any help for this trip.
