Blake's Medical Fund!

Donation protected

Blake Stok and his wife Ydun headed off for their honeymoon in beautiful Puerto Rico on Christmas Eve. The fourth evening there, Blake jumped off a 60 foot waterfall and hit rocks under the water.  Ydun and a handful of locals helped pull Blake out of the water and call an ambulance. After five hours at the local hospital, he was flown by helicopter to the main trauma center in the capital city of San Juan. We can only imagine the uncertainty and emotions experienced during that horrific incident and the time since.

He sustained several injuries, some of which were life threatening. He suffered from a broken femur, pelvis, ribs, collapsed lung, and head fracture. Blake has undergone several surgeries, all of which went well. Despite having a severe brain injury, we are all so thankful that doctors don’t expect any permanent brain damage.

Blake is looking at a long road of recovery ahead. He spent nearly 3 weeks in the stabilization unit of the trauma hospital before transferring to an intensive rehabilitation hospital, where he currently resides. He will need to remain in the hospital in Puerto Rico until he gets cleared to fly home to Washington D.C. Doctors say his recovery will take up to a year, and the next 4-6 months are going to be the toughest part of the journey.

Blake and Ydun are so thankful for the outpour of love that they have received so far. I'm sure many are wondering what else can be done to support them. I hope that by starting this fundraiser we can come together to help ease the tremendous stress caused by mounting medical costs.
