WHO WE ARE..
I am the mum of a teenage boy (14), Pauli who has Autism, Intellectual Disability, Epilepsy, Non Verbal, Club Foot. Life has certainly not been fun, but somehow we seem to soldier on. As a family we are fortunate to have been able to go camping but never on a true relaxing holiday with activities or care for Pauli as there is no place that caters for him. I am and Early Childhood Educator and work as a Teacher Aide in Special Education in Brisbane, Australia.

WHY AM I RAISING MONEY ~
As camp and holiday options are scarce for children and teens with special needs, We Are Able Holiday Park will create an expansive, fun and educational place for children of all abilities to have a memorable experience. As an added benefit, we plan to make it a FAMILY AFFAIR.
I have a vision and dream to provide a Holiday Park in Queensland, Australia for families of special needs children, where they came come and have a great time as a family, with our special children being catered for and activities geared for them where they can discover fun in a specifically designed environment and where the parents of our beautiful children can take time to relax and recoup whilst their children attend activities. I believe this is vital for our families.
HOW WILL THE MONEY BE USED
I intend to staff the Holiday Park with Professionals from various areas of special needs, Students studying in this area, Volunteers and also by providing employment to our Special Children oncethey leave school in various areas that match their capabilities.
Once finished, I am planning the Park to include an adventure center, amphitheater, aquatics center, art center, lodges, chapel, trails, music center, organic farm, dining hall, technology center and much more!
In order to get this off the ground we would firstly need to purchase some land, and then design layout and facilites. So all funds received will be used in the purchase of land, specialised equipment and construction of this facility to ensure a wonderful safe place for our SN families to come to.
I envision to make this happen in the next 3 years, when Pauli has finished school, therefore have started fundraising now. With lots of planning taking place to make this happen and involving a small group of Special Needs Parents who share this vision.
I am a plain and simple mum with a MASSIVE VISION and HUGE PASSION for our Special Families and see such a need for a place that would provide some fun and rest and relaxtion for our parents and their children together. I have seen and worked with soo many families who struggle on a daily basis and are soo tired and whose marriages fall apart all due to the stresses of walking the Special Needs walk, who can never go on holiday, and who desperately need a place they can go where they know their children will be safe and can have fun and where they can relax and enjoy themselves too, and get the break that they need to face life.
I would be so grateful for any assistance that you, THE WORLDWIDE COMMUNITY, could give me in making this vision and dream come true for our families.
