2019 Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge

Hello everyone! My name is Kyle and I work at Merrylands RSL Club as the Marketing Co-ordinator. Peter from Club Umina and myself have been chosen as part of the 2019 Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge (KYLC) to represent Merrylands RSL Club and Club Umina in taking upon the challenge of enduring the Kokoda trail in Papa New Guinea on the 5th August to the 16th of August 2019.
The program was developed by former army major, Charlie Lynn of adventure Kokoda and is designed for young Australians who have leadership potential. The KYLC is aimed at creating a greater awareness of the sacrifices the diggers made during the Kokoda campaign to ensure the traditions live on among young people. It also instil a commitment to community service and is an opportunity to experience the same conditions our diggers fought in.
I am very excited and proud about the opportunity and experience that we are about to embark on. In order to complete the Trek, participants will require a high level of physical and medical fitness as well as exceptional endurance ability. Furthermore the hazardous nature of the terrain and waterways will not be easy on us however we will not give up and we will give our best.
We are writing this in hope that you could support us by providing either a money donation or by simply sharing this web page online.
Merrylands RSL Club are kindly donating the cost for half the trip and through fundraising we have to raise an extra $8 000 for supplies and safety gear to ensure we complete the journey successfully and safely.
In addition to our personal gratification you will also be acknowledged and thanked for your support in our clubs monthly journal which is distributed throughout the club and to our 80,000 plus members.
We thank you in advance for your wonderful kindness, support and participation in this great fundraising activity. My ultimate goal is to improve my leadership’s skill, enhance my mental and physical strength. But more importantly, I want to make my family at Merrylands RSL Club proud!
