Christie Bike Ride (11th Annual)

Tax deductible
The Dugald Christie Memorial Community Bike Ride (Christie Bike Ride, or CBR for short) is an annual event organised by students at the McGill Faculty of Law at the start of every school year. McGill Law students founded the Ride in 2009 to honour McGill Alumnus and Vancouver Lawyer Dugald Christie. Christie was both an advocate for marginalised communities and an avid cycler. In 2006, Christie began a cross-country cycling trip to raise awareness for access to justice issues. He planned to ride to Ottawa to convince decision-makers of the need for justice system reform. He was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle four months after the start of his journey. This is the 11th annual ride!

This year, funds raised through the event will once again go to the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal (NWSM). The NWSM is the only women’s shelter in Montreal that provides services exclusively to Aboriginal women and their children. For more information you can visit the NWSM’s website at: http://www.nwsm.info.
