SECOND ANNUAL!!!!
The Fletcher Family Movie Series is a not for profit activity sponsored by the Seward Arts Council, designed as a family friendly event to be held on Friday Nights during the winter months. A group of volunteers is raising money from businesses, individuals, and organizations in the Seward Community to put on two movies a week, on Friday Evenings between October and March, in a traditional theater setting at the UAF Rae building in downtown Seward at a very low cost.
We want to make a family friendly event designed to attract youth and young adults, as well as families and other members of the community.
Our goal is to keep our costs low ($2 per movie for admission). Due to the particularities with movie licensing, if we charge more, the fees for public showing increase exponentially! These fees will include donations that are made at the door of the movie. In order to keep this event legal and low cost, we need to raise funds from the community for the whole series and not particular movies. In addition to large organizational donations, every dollar we can raise from the community will help us to get more newer and better movies this winter. Please use this GOFUNDME account to contribute $5, $10, $20 or more to help us reach or even exceed our goal.
Movie licensing for pre-DVD movies is in the neighborhood of $500 per showing, while new DVD releases only cost $75. If we can have a successful fund drive here and in the community for large donors, we can have a series with almost all second run movies - just like the Liberty!
