To be a professional cyclist
I'm really looking forward to getting back to racing with this weekend's Chico Stage race. It's 3 stages over 2 days. I've been healing up from my injury & back to training hard! It's the little things that matter now: massages, stretching, sleep, nutrition....they all add up! Thanks so much for all the support I've received thus far.
There are a few really important rules that every cyclist, whether you're competitive or not, should never take for granted. When making changes to your gear, bike or nutrition always ease in to it and change one thing at a time; and second, getting professionally fit to your bicycle as as important as an annual check-up with your doctor. The first, I ignored at a very important race last weekend and paid the price. The second, I took very seriously and am back on track. I'm looking forward to racing again this weekend!
This last week: dealing with mechanicals and listening to my body. I flatted at Snelling RR but was with the front group and had survived longer than in years past. I used the next day's small field criterium to practice my group sprint skills and I've RE-LEARNED to race my strengths. I've also been dealing with being on my feet all day while working at Starbucks & taking care of my recovery needs STAT before pain and injury become chronic. I'm really grateful for the support I've received to help me get to Merco & continue to train and recover properly!!
