Help us help Pauline & Jonathan

As many of you know, Pauline and Jonathan suffered terrible losses due to Hurricane Sandy. The basement of their co-owned building in Red Hook, Brooklyn, in which they live and work was completely flooded, ruining the electrical system and elevator shaft. Three feet of water flooded the first floor, severely damaging Jonathan's woodshop and thousands of dollars worth of tools.  Sadly, all five of Jonathan's British motorcycles that he spent years lovingly restoring all drowned.

Five weeks later, the building is STILL without power. The entire electrical system needs to be repaired at a cost of $60,000.  Unfortunately, these costs are not covered by FEMA, the city, or state. Jonathan and Pauline are able to cover half the cost, but not the remaining $30,000.

Any help you could give towards rebuilding, especially towards the urgent need of repairing the electrical system, would be greatly appreciated. While they have adapted quite well to life without electricity, they most certainly would like to have their real refrigerator back (check out the photo of the outdoor, filing cabinet fridge!)

Some of you may have also suffered losses due to the hurricane and some of you may have already contributed, please pass this along to other friends who know Pauline and Jonathan and may want to help.

Thank you!
