10KM Outdoor Swim for Lewis Jones

Donation protected
My name is Dean and in a moment of madness I decided to sign up and take on the 10km Great North Swim in Lake Windermere on Sunday 11th June. I will be doing this to try and raise money for a brave young boy called Lewis Jones who suffers with Crohn's Disease.

Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are the two main forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, affecting more than 300,000 people in the UK. Despite this, it is largely a hidden disease, and one that causes stigma, fear and isolation – it’s thought that many people with the condition go undiagnosed and suffer in silence. It doesn’t have to be like this.

I am taking on this challenge to try and raise money and awareness about this horrendous condition that effects Lewis' way of life. He has already been through so much by way of medication and treatments over the last couple of years and no child deserves to go through the pain he has experienced.

All proceeds from whatever is raised will go towards The Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle Upon Tyne where Lewis undergoes treatment to help with his condition and also to Crohn's and Colitis UK who are the UK’s leading charity in the battle against Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

Thank you for taking the time to read this story and I hope it inspires you to make a donation or will impact you enough to try and raise awareness for better treatments of this disease to improve the lives of people that are affected.
