100 Quilts, 100 Kids help change a life

I'm on a mission to make 100 quilts and donate them to 100 kids who need them. I want to help make the world a better place and change a child's life. Here's my story:
Why 100 Quilts, 100 Kids?
About two years ago my friend, Gale of Stamps and Stitches, made me a small lap quilt. I've slept with this quilt just about every night since I received it. We're like Linus and his blue blanket. It gives me comfort and it helps keep me warm. If I've had a not so great day I can ball up underneath and the world disappears. It's the one constant in all the changes that take place every day.
I want to share this comfort with kids in need. Foster kids who pass from house to house, sick kids in the hospital who long for the comfort of home, kids who have little or nothing because that's just the hand they've been dealt. I want to give them something that is just for them, that will bring them comfort and warmth.
Why a handmade quilt and not just any old blanket from the store you ask? A lot of time and care goes into making a quilt. Each quilt, like each kid is unique. A handmade quilt is their own and no other kid will have one just like it. A handmade quiltt shows a kid that someone cared enough to do something just for them.
Here's where you come in:
I've estimated that each quilt will cost about $45 in fabric, batting and thread. My goal is to raise $5000 in order to cover the cost of the supplies to make each quilt as well as other costs associated with making each quilt like needles, rotary blades, labels, sewing machine maintenance, etc.
Any extra money that is raised will go towards the purchase of more materials to continue making quilts.
How You Can Help
You can donate several different ways - by using your debit/credit card or an echeck through PayPal (you don't have to have a PayPal account, donating fabric or simply spreading the word.
1) You can donate with a debit/credit card, eCheck or funds from your PayPal account by clicking on the donate button below. You do not need a PayPal account to use this service. When you are directed to the PayPal page, just uncheck the blue-checked box that says "Save this information with a PayPal account" and you will be redirected as a non-PayPal account member.
2) If you have extra QUILTING fabric that you have no plans for and would like to donate that, feel free to contact me via social media or email me at [email redacted] and send me a message and we can work out the details on how to get that fabric to me.
3) Trading fabric for one of my handmade goods. If you have a fabric shop and are willing to trade fabric for something I make (cowl, hat, gloves, cards), let me know. I love trading and everyone wins.
4) I understand that not everyone can give monetarily and that's okay, but you can still help. Shout it out while standing on the roof of your car, share it on your facebook/twitter/instagram/tumblr page, blog about it, tattoo it on your forehead whatever. Just help spread the word. Every little bit is appreciated.
5) If you're not comfortable donating monetarily, but would still like to contribute something, I've set up a wish list on Amazon
with items that I could use like batting, pins and other sewing supplies. I've also created a board on Pinterest for fabric.
I also sell handmade goods on storenvy, etsy, local consignment shops and in person. Part of the proceeds from items purchased will also go towards the purchases of materials to make quilts.
Most of the quilts will be given to children locally, but I would love to send quilts out to cities/states that my donors live in.
I'll be documenting this mission with updates on my blog, instagram and facebook fan page so that you all can follow along and see the good that your donations are doing.
My hope is to make a difference in a kid's life, little or big. I mean hey, these kids could be the kids who cure muffin top.
Here is the campaign I had on IndieGoGo, the campaign ended mid-September. I raised enough to make a few quilts and have been trading handmade goods for fabric on etsy too. I think it's a good start.
(I've added the IndieGoGo donations and donations that were made after the IndieGoGo compaign as offline donations so that this campaign includes all donations that have been made.)
