Louie's Specialist Fund.

Louie is a very special girl. She is now 11 years old and I have had her since she was 6 months old. She began having joint issues around 7 months old due to abuse and neglect at a very young age. Before being rescued, she was used as a bait dog. She was starved, abused, burned with cigarettes and left to die near a dumpster. She has overcome a lot of obstacles and has brought great joy in the life's of others. Louie has become very arthritic and is on medication for pain a few times a day. Sunday the 26th, she endured a life changing event. She was up and about like any other day when the incident occurred. Louie was accidentally struck by a young and energetic dog chasing a ball. The direct impact knocked her off her feet and she hit the floor. Though out the evening, Louie progressively declined. She has reached a point where she can no longer support her body weight on her own. At most, she can take a few steps, but then falls to the ground. I took her to the vet today and the radiographs were inconclusive. She will need to see a specialist. Because the spinal cord does not appear on X-rays, special imaging is necessary to locate the source of the injury. A specialist will need to inject a special dye into her spine, which surrounds the spinal cord and allows it to appear on X-rays, a myelogram. This test requires that Louie is to be put under anesthesia. In some cases, further testing may be required before surgical repair, if necessary. This dog is my world, she has helped me through some of my darkest days. I feel the need to be there for her as she was for me, she's an amazing dog! I'm not one to ask for help financially, but I need to put my pride aside and do this for my fur baby. Anything helps, even if it's just a simple share, it still helps. Please help me save my dog.
