Harper's Top Surgery

Harper is a 26 year old male has gender dysphoria and is need of life altering surgery. This is because Harper identifies as a Transgender Male .
We have set up this gofundme page to help inform people about gender dysphoria and by doing this we hope to open your eyes, minds and hearts to the Trans community and what it means to be Trans.
Being Transgender is not a choice, it has been medically proven that being trans is developed in utero and it's where the brain and body ( that develop at different stages of creation) do not coincide.
Gender dysphoria comes at different ages and to different severities. Some children/adults whom express themselves early in life or have supportive people around them go through an easier process of gender affirmation, but, some children/adults who don't have support, understanding or knowledge of what they feel end up needing more medical help and surgeries to affirm their gender. Harper is one of those people.
Harper has been on his medical journey of affirming his gender publicly for 18 months. Privately it has been 8 years. Harper has been on hormone therapy since September 2017 and has had a consultation with a surgeon. This surgeon will help Harper undergo breast removal surgery or "top surgery" which in time will leave Harper with a flat "male aesthetic" chest.
Having "top surgery" is one of the most dignifying surgery's trans men can have but it can be very expensive. We have been told to expect around a $10,000.00 expense. This is just for the surgeons fees.
So as well as being a transgender male, Harper suffers from a Connective Tissue Disorder called Ehlers Danloss Syndrom or "EDS", this condition does not allow Harper's body to function normally as a 26 year old, more like a 60 year old and this does not allow for Harper to hold Full or even Part time work, so this makes saving for surgery even harder.
We will be organising a fundraiser event in the shoalhaven NSW in the near future, so keep your eye out for updates.
