It all started with a mammogram.... 2019 has proven to be the most challenging year of my life. After an abnormal mammogram and breast biopsies my doctors decided to do genetic testing since my mom battled breast cancer for some time.  To my surprise not only was I carrying a breast cancer gene but I also tested positive for a gene mutation called CDH1.  This gene mutation is also known as Hereditary diffused gastric cancer. After many days of research and many doctors appointments the recommendations from the doctors was to have a total gastrectomy (complete stomach removal) followed by a mastectomy.   On the morning of April 30th my new stomach less life began. There has been nothing easy about it but I must be strong and get myself ready for the next chapter. I know the road ahead will be bumpy but those who know me well know that I am strong and I will beat this and come out better than ever. God is rock, and he’s not giving up on me. I may not have a stomach and soon will not have my natural breast, but my spirit cannot be broken. Let’s kick cancer’s butt!!
