Help the HoBees

In April 2009, only 18 months into our marriage, my husband Jarrett was diagnosed with small intestinal adenocarcinoma.  The following surgery and 6 months of chemotherapy did their job and we have been lucky that he has been cancer free since.  Unfortunately the combination of surgery and chemo has had long lasting effects on his body that make day-to-day life difficult and prevent him from being able to work. We have waited patiently for the side-effects from the chemo to wear off and for his body to heal, but we have passed the 5 year mark and he is still experiencing issues with appetite, digestion, and physical exhaustion.

He is an amazing stay-at-home dad to our two kids but the rigors of chasing two small children exacerbate his continued gastro-intestinal issues.  We are hoping to raise funds in order to get him some additional help with the kids during the week while I am at work. Having another set of hands around the house will allow him to get to much needed doctor’s appointments and to allow him a bit more time to focus on his recovery.

We have set a goal of $7000 to get him 8-10 hours of help on a weekly basis until our son is in school full time next year.

In case you are wondering about the campaign title "Help the HoBees" - we are the Horrigan/Beeley household since I kept my maiden name when we got married.  HoBee is our family nickname.
