Zoë Myers School Band Memorial

Our beloved Zoë left us unexpectedly 24 August, 2014.  She was 17 years old and had just started her senior year in high school.  Zoë's passion in life - what she would refer to as her true voice - was music.  From the moment in 6th grade when she squeaked out those first notes on an alto sax, she was hooked.  Playing music in her school band either in Salem or Waynesville, Missouri was her greatest joy, whether it was in marching band, jazz band, concert band, competition band, combos, whatever.  School bands have a lot of expenses.  They travel all over the state for competitions, they have to buy uniforms, they have to pay for upkeep of equipment, they have to purchase rights to music, the list goes on and on.   Zoë's mother and I want to honor Zoë by supporting these bands that she loved so much.  All money raised will be given to local school bands and their boosters to help defray the above-mentioned costs.  Band Booster parents work hard to raise funds, but we all know sometimes the arts are the groups that tend to get short shrifted.  We have already given away more than $10,000 in her name as scholarships and school band donations.  We hope this avenue allows an easier forum for those who wish to contribute to this great cause, while helping to keep a little bit of Zoë's special music forever harmonizing along with her fellow bandmates.  We appreciate your help.  Respectfully, Eric and Rebecca Myers.
