Zoe's Death Doula Training Fund

Donation protected
Hello everyone!

If you know anything about me, you know that I have a profound respect for death and the process of dying. As I finish my doctoral work, I find myself looking for a way to extend my training as an anthropologist to the larger community. For this reason, I have decided to pursue training and certification as an end of life doula.

The first step in this process is to attend an initial training with INELDA, one of the most respect end of life training programs, both locally and internationally.

From the INELDA pamphlet on the training:

"This training will immerse you in the exciting and profound work of being an end of life doula. You will learn the three-phase model that serves as the foundation for the doula approach, come to understand the philosophy and spirit of service that underpins the approach, and get an intensive and thorough grounding in the powerful tools and techniques doulas use in their work."

My ultimate goals are to:

- gain professional certification that enables compassionate treatment of death and dying

- gain professional certification that enables me to assist my tribal community members who seek end of life doulas

- use my professional training to assist financially disadvantaged communities and communities of color in end if life care

- as a queer, Native woman, promote diversity and cultural awareness within end if life doula communities

The cost for this initial training is $750 plus travel. Anything I receive over $850, I will reserve for future trainings as I move through the certification process. It's pricey and outside of my immediate means.

Chi-Miigwech (Big Thanks), friends!
