Zion's Renal Failure

On October 23, 2018,  our 10 year old son Zion started having muscle cramps all over his body. After consulting the nurse hotline we were instructed to take him to the ER. We were asked all the normal questions that pertained to muscle cramps( Do he drink enough water, What did he do at school, Is he using the restroom on a regular basis, Has he been sick?) and nothing that he done or didn't do could give us the test results that came back. The doctor at Rockdale couldn't explain the results so she transferred us to Egleston Children's Hospital. The same test were conducting with the same results. Zion's kidney's were over worked, his electrolytes were off the chart among other things but why when this child has not been sick. No symptoms or signs of illness.  We will need to do a ultrasound to figure out what is happening. On October 24, 2018 and ultrasound was conducted of his kidneys. We patiently waited for the results. Around 12:15 PM that day a team of Nephrologist  gathers in Zion's room to give his diagnosis. Zion has kidney failure, we need to put a port in his chest for him to start dialysis on tomorrow, he will eventually need a kidney transplant we were told. I am sitting thinking to myself this must be a dream. How do you go from a child being healthy and full of life to a child that is only 10 having to take dialysis and medicine for the rest of his life?  Because of the unexpected diagnosis we are needing help with his medical expenses (dialysis 3x a week , medicine he has to take after the transplant, future medical expenses during this trying time.  We are not sure how long he will be on dialysis or when he will be able to be put on the transplant list. Any amount is not to small. We appreciate whatever you can donate.
