Cariad Wholefoods is a family-run independent health foods store in Dorset selling products which are ethical, vegan and environmentally friendly. We have been trading successfully since 2016.
A key part of our ethos is to offer as many unpackaged and plastic free products as possible and to date, we sell over 90 wholefoods, herbs and spices unpackaged, as well as offering a refill station for environmentally friendly cleaning products and toiletries.
Having set up the store on a limited budget, at present our unpackaged products are sold from jars which look great but put limitations on the products that we can store and sell - indeed, the demand for unpackaged products is currently exceeding our capacity by some margin.
We would like to expand our zero waste options by investing in self-serve dry food dispensers which are purpose-made (these dispensers are commonly used in Wholefoods Market stores). This would allow us to offer a wider range of unpackaged products and in greater volume, fulfilling the huge and increasing demand for zero waste shopping in Dorset.
The funds raised would be used to purchase 35-40 self service dispensers plus the shelving required for installation. Our goal, with your help, is to have these in place by May 2018.
The need to reduce and eliminate packaging waste has never been greater and more and more people are choosing to reject plastic packaging and be more environmentally responsible. We want Cariad to not just be part of that change but to help drive it by offering our community true zero waste shopping.
