Watch the trailer for the film

An upcoming multi-part documentary series exploring the history and practices of Zen Buddhism in North America. The film is currently in production until 2016.

This important series introduces viewers to some of the early North American pioneers of Zen Buddhism. By interviewing teachers, students, academics, family members and friends, I am fleshing out our founding teachers and our history.

I need your support today. By pre-ordering a copy of Zen in America you'll help ensure that the film will and can remain in production. Your money will help me fill up gas tanks, buy plane tickets and food. If you cannot pre-order a copy, you can also enter any amount of your choosing to back the film.

Thank you for your investment of faith in me. If you are unable to give today, you can also help the project by sharing this link to your wall:  http://www.gofundme.com/zen-in-america

I'm starting work on the most important part of my film, which is what this practice is and has done for those who have taken it up as their practice. Realistically the overall series Zen in America will take a few more years than originally planned but, in the interim, I will be working on this. It's where I have the most abundance of material and it's also the part that I think will have the greatest impact on audiences. It'll be heartfelt because the people I've interviewed were heartfelt people. Buddhists will find it interesting but, ultimately, I think it will be people who are just searching for something that will get the most out of it.

The other segments to Zen in America will mostly be historical and an exploration of common issues.
I appreciate everyone's understanding regarding my juggling this project and Sweeping Zen. Thank you. If you'd like to support the film still, please consider making a financial contribution today.
