Michael Rossillio aka Mikey died on Thursday 4/5/18. To many people he was a “Great Man” or “One of a Kind”, but to me he was one of my heros.
Michael Rossillio was the most selfless, humble, modest, family oriented , strong willed individuals I ever meant in my life. He served in Korea, worked as a truck driver for Maggio’s, never said “No” to anyone that needed help. He knew how to stretch a dollar , how to save money by fixing things or building things on his own. He always provided for his family and knew how to negotiate every sales man around to make sure he was getting the best deal.
Unfortunately at the age of 61 shortly after he retired, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. And as he got older this progressive disease got worse. Watching your hero, loss the ability to clean after himself or even do the things he loved to do like cook be taken away from him is heartbreaking. But worst is watching him suffer years later after he was also diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. This caused the once independent man, to now have to relieve on Assisting Living. Which in turn depleted all his life savings, everything he worked so hard for.
That is why I am setting up this fund for my grandfather. He outlived his savings, and I just cant let the man who taught me how to save a penny, how to hustle for the best deal, how to work hard , how to be selfless, how to put your family first, not have the proper funeral that he deserves, that I know he would have wanted.
Please help us raise the money needed to give Michael Rossillio Sr the funeral he planned for in his life. I want to make sure the memories of family dinners on Saturdays, holiday dinners, buying our Easter shoes , cooking 80 sausages for me to take to college, buying my first car, and so many more along with a funeral he deserves be a memory as well.
