Who are African Adventures?  *African Adventures is an award-winning travel company that matches volunteers in the UK with one of 25 community projects we support in developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar. We provide these projects with the resources they need in order to grow, whilst organising the trips from start to finish for our volunteers. This means that we fulfil the dual role of tour operator and development agency, providing a high-quality service to our volunteers, who make everything happen, whilst working closely with each partner project to help them provide better outreach services to the communities they serve. We make no grand claims that we are going to change the world but we know we are changing our partner projects for the better. The evidence proves it. How? Firstly, we do things the right way, with the projects and our volunteers at the heart of everything. Our Responsible travel section demonstrates our commitment to responsible volunteering, and this applies to each and every trip. Then, we prepare our volunteers with as much information as possible about their forthcoming experience. This includes providing the tools they need to make a difference, whilst managing expectations of what can be achieved in a single trip. We receive no external funding and we exist thanks to our volunteers, so we strive to deliver the best possible experience for them, with an outstanding service along the way. We are not bothered about being the biggest – we are focused on trying to be the best._This means that we fulfil the dual role of tour operator and development agency, providing a high-quality service to our volunteers, who make everything happen, whilst working closely with each partner project to help them provide better outreach services to the communities they serve. We are not bothered about being the biggest – we are focused on trying to be the best* What am I doing? In the summer of 2019 i intend to travel to Zanzibar with my School  to a small community that is in extreme poverty, I will be taking up the role of a "Community builder"  where i will be helping local trades men to build much needed community buildings, these will be built using materials provided by African Adventures. These buildings should benefit the community greatly, possibly helping more local children get an education  Now the majority of the group that's going with my school will be teaching students from the age of 3 to 17. The students will be taught things like maths and English then progressing on to P.E. in the afternoons, giving the children some skills to help them progress in life! As a further incentive for donations I am running the Strathaven Striders 'run with the wind' 10k and a 50 mile round cycle with a climb up tinto in the middle! Where will your money go? The money raised from this is to cover travel and accommodation costs, that being said it's not fancy 5* hotels we're staying in, it'll most likely be hostel style accommodation we will be staying in. Most likely not having much more than 3 person dorms in it. however around 5% of the total £2000 will go to African adventures charity which helps support the schools and provide building materials for the community projects  I am very grateful for any donations made big or small, it will all help me get there and the community it affects in Zanzibar  thank for taking the time to read my pledge more information about African Adventures and Zanzibar poverty can be found below  https://www.african-adventures.co.uk/ http://www.thecitizen.co.tz/News/Zanzibar-records-slight-decline-in-urban-poverty/1840340-4171826-13twrjw/index.html
