Background:
Five years ago my family adopted Rocky. He was only 4-6 months old when we got him from the ASPCA. He is originally from Puerto Rico and is considered a SATO or street dog. My wife and I decided with the approval of our 1st son, Steven, and 1st dog Bella, that Rocky would become the fifth member to our family. From day one, Rocky was the most loving, sweet, gentle dog you could ever ask for. About 2 months later our family grew as Bella had her own liter of 5 of which we kept 2 puppies. Rocky has bonded with all of us and has a very special connection with the one puppy, Lady. They are completely inseparable . Lady is about 12lbs and Rocky now is 70lbs and they are the best of friends and always laying on one another or playing together .
We Need Your Help to Save Rocky
About 3 weeks ago we took Rocky to the vet because he was drink an excessive amount of water. After many blood and urine tests, x rays and CT scans , and even needle aspiration biopsy, we were told that Rocky has a form of cancerous tumor called Thymoma. If we don’t do surgery or radiation right away this tumor will grow at a rapid rate and kill him within 2 months. Surgery is our only chance at curing him completely... and being that it is nowhere else in his body we have a GREAT chance to remove this tumor with clean margins!!! Giving Rocky the chance to live a full life !!
This is a cancer that usually occurs in older dogs and grows at a very rapid rate. Our poor rocky has so much more life to live. Rocky is only 5, this cannot be the end for him. When Rocky meets people we introduce him as “the best PERSON you will ever meet” because he is truly the best person on this planet - far better than any creature I have ever encountered.
Rocky is not a “family pet” , he is our 3rd child and loved by all who meet him ... everyone tries to take him home with them. But he’s ours ❤️
Our two boys (3&7) love Rocky, they are best friends and will be devastated if we cannot save him.
The Surgery to save Rocky is very expensive... and we don’t have a lot of time to wait to give him the surgery. I do not think I could express in words how grateful we would be to be helped by everyone. I know Rocky would be grateful and given the chance would snuggle you up too.
And be cause we wouldn’t want a cent we don’t need strictly for Rocky - any money raised here to save him that is not used will be put towards either the ASPCA, another dogs treatment , or a form of animal fund or rescue.
