Zacs fight for life
As many of you know and to those of you that do not, Zac was hospitalized in the ICU for septic shock and multiple organ failure on 3/13/19. The infection attacked his heart valve and Zac needed to have emergency open heart valve replacement surgery on 3/15/19. His kidneys lost all function and he is currently on dialysis. Zac was intubated for 6 long days. Due to the infection that is still infecting his blood and his body Zac also had to undergo another surgery on 3/23/19 to remove abscesses and dead muscle tissue in his legs and arm. Zac will need another procedure to clean the wounds once they begin to heal. Zac is going to need extensive rehabilitation for not only his heart but also the rest of his body once the infection is gone, as well as continued dialysis. He is fighting hard and we are very hopeful of a full recovery. However this is going to be a very long process and Zac will not be able to work for quite some time. With medical bills beginning to roll in, and now being a single income family this is going to cause a great deal of distress to both of us. I am not one to ask for help but at this point in time we would be extremely grateful. Our main priority is getting Zac healthy and back to living his life. If you are able to help in anyway it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone that has done so much already. I personally don’t think we could have made it this far without all the amazing people we have in our corner supporting us.+ Read More
As hard as this is to say I feel that it needs to be shared with everyone that has been with us through these tragic events. Today the strongest man I’ve ever met, the love of my life, my best friend lost his fight. He did everything he possibly could to beat this but his body could not take anymore. Zac passed away this afternoon. His services will be in council bluffs I will make updates when more details are available. Thank you to everyone who shared, donated, prayed, offered love and support. We appreciate you all. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. Zac passed with the most important people at his side and he will be forever loved and missed. I love you babe!!! Forever and Always!!!!
Unfortunately we had a setback last evening. Zac had a hematoma on his liver that burst causing internal bleeding. Zac was taken back to Nebraska Heart for emergency abdominal surgery. He is in an extreme amount of pain but he is still fighting. He is the strongest person I know and he will beat all of this. He will probably be at Nebraska heart for another week before returning to Madonna. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts. I would also like to thank everyone for your continued support especially to those at the heart hospital who continue to work miracles for my husband. Every single person there is a godsend and we wouldn’t be where we are without them.
Zac is moving to Madonna Rehabilitation today!! Yay!! Finally on the road to recovery. He will be continuing dialysis there and continues to fight so hard to get better. Thank you to everyone who has supported us during this process. It appears that things are finally looking up.
