Highway Patrol, Trooper Bader Family Thank Public For Support
PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Highway Patrol officials and the family of Trooper Zachary Bader are thanking the public for its support after Bader was physically assaulted Saturday near Rapid City.
Bader, a 10-year veteran of the Patrol, sustained serious non-life threatening injuries while making a traffic stop. He remains hospitalized.
“It is not just the law enforcement community, but the general public that has responded with messages of support, financial donations and other acts of kindness." says Col. Craig Price, superintendent of the Highway Patrol.
The Bader family has also released the following statement:
“We would like to thank everyone for their well wishes, prayers and love for Zac and our family; we are forever indebted and grateful for the generosity, support and encouragement we are receiving from across the world. We have never felt alone during this time, and the strength and support of this community is overwhelming. As Zac's condition improves, we are inspired by his headstrong, positive attitude. His sense of humor remains intact -- even during these difficult times, he can make us smile!
Although this is very tragic for our family, it has brought to light a real problem our community and our nation face -- drugs and the ensuing abuse. We must continue to support what Zac, fellow Highway Patrolman and the men and women of law enforcement do as they protect our communities. These heroes continue to make our state one of the greatest places in the world to live, work and raise a family. Our law enforcement and first responders do their utmost to protect us and our families, not only through enforcement, but also by example - we salute their dedication. Our family is overwhelmed by everyone's kindness and will be forever grateful. Thank you.”
Col. Price says the Highway Patrol will continue to assist the family as needed. “We are in this together and we look forward to the day when Trooper Bader returns to duty,” says the Colonel.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I've got lots of thank yous to send, and I'm SO EXCITED about it. We have almost reached our goal, which is simply amazing.
I don't have an update specifically on Zac; however, I would like to share that the Rapid City Rush will be recognizing Zac as Hero of the Game at Saturday's game against the Alaska Aces. It's a 2:05 afternoon game Sat Oct 31st. All law enforcement get $5 off if you get your tickets from the Rush office. Please pass this info to your friends and let's pack the arena with Zac supporters!
Thank you all,
I'm about to start round-two of "thank yous!" sorry if it fills up your facebook newsfeed!!
Zac has surgery tomorrow, so keep those thoughts/prayers/positive vibes coming!
Also, we've met our first goal, so I've increased it quite a bit!
THANK YOU EVERYONE!
My husband and I are praying so hard for Officer Bader and all of his loved ones. We pray that God gives him strength and comfort throughout the long road ahead of him. We also pray for God to help his family stay strong and get through each day until he is fully recovered. We also pray that those responsible for doing this are charged and found guilty accordingly and receive the help they need to become better people and to feel true remorse for what they have done to an innocent man. Amen!! Sending lots of good vibes and lots of love to all of you!
Sweet family we are sending our love and prayers all the way from Oregon! Mama bear, please look into Craniosacral therapy for continued care for him. So much love to you all. xoxoxoxo
The prayers of a righteous man have tremendous power! James 5:16 Lots of men and women of Faith are invading heaven for you my friend! And God is working miracles in your behalf. Thinking and praying for Patrolman Badar and his family. I hope your recovery is not to hard. Take care from a fellow officer. (retired Deputy Sheriff)
May God lift your family in a time of need. Once able we too will donate what we can. Just hang on and Believe
My thought and prayers are with you and your family Zac! I know you have the fight in you.
Prayers for a speedy and full recovery. @Brandon I know when my husband got hurt at work that workman's comp only covers a percentage if what a person makes and is capped at a certain amount, so it wasn't even the full amount of the fraction that we received. It was very difficult for us to cover our bills at that time. Also it won't cover any missed work by the wife while she is by his side recovering. Just some more info.
Adorable family ... I hope he recovers quickly so he can get back to life at full speed
This being a work related injury, doesn't workers comp take care of all medical bills and recovery related expenses? Even his income wouldn't be affected until his full recovery?
Thinking about and praying for you old buddy - Shaun Manning and family
You are certainly in my prayers. Know that people care. Heal quickly!
You and yours are in my prayers... Thank You Zac for all you do. Hope you are well soon.
Praying for you buddy may you have a speedy recovery
Prayers going up for Zac and your family.
