Running Amsterdam Marathon for Ted

On the 21st October 2018 Tommy and Harry are running the Amsterdam Marathon for a really amazing cause - the ‘Ted Foundation’. Tragically, 22 year old Ted Senior took his own life this February, so first and foremost, we're running in support of Ted's family, but secondly we're running to do our bit in raising awareness for an all too present reality - mental health issues amongst young men are a big problem.
The most shocking thing about Ted's story is how close to home it feels. Like Ted, we both went to Bristol University, like Ted we love sports (Tommy even played on the same rugby team as him), Ted moved in the same friendship groups and went on the same nights out as we did. The point we're trying to emphasise is that we've all become very good at putting on an appearance of happiness and hiding what we're feeling inside.
When 84 statues were recently put above the ITV central London studios as an art installation commemorating the 84 men who die through suicide every week in the UK, although incredibly moving, it seemed to be something which only affected others. However, a tragedy like this really puts things into perspective of how big and wide-reaching an issue this is.
‘Ted Foundation’ works closely with the mental health charity ‘Heads Together’ to raise awareness of the issue of mental health, reduce the stigmatisation of it in British society and to prevent the reoccurrence of tragedies like Ted’s.
The picture you see above was taken after the first run in what is promising to be a gruelling but enjoyable training schedule! Any donation big or small would be hugely appreciated, and will give us even more motivation to train and run hard for such a worthwhile cause.
