Help Stacy fight cancer

Donation protected
In February 2015, despite years of clear PAPs I was diagnosed with metastatic cervical cancer. Surgery was not an option. After 5 weeks of chemo and daily radiation the doctors were amazed to discover no evidence of disease - the almost 10 cm tumour was gone and there was no sign of cancer in the lymph nodes. They said at the outset this wasn't possible and gave me a year to live. We proved them wrong! But cancer cells are smart - the few possible survivors hide out and mutate. So we went on the attack with internal radiation followed by double agent chemotherapy. I will ring the bravery bell at Princess Margaret Hospital on July 30 to signal the end of this cycle of conventional treatment! Along the way my amazing supporters have asked me three questions:

1. "How did you do it? You don't even look sick!" The most important factor was support and especially that of my incredible husband. Without him I could not have maintained a positive attitude, taken control of my health, asserted myself in the face of challenging medical professionals, researched current treatments and sought out sources of integrative therapies.

2. "What have you learned? How has this changed your life?" My life and perspective have changed in more ways than I can describe here and my learning continues every day. To put it in overly simple terms, I know now more than ever who I am and what's important and I live each day through that growing awareness.

3. "How can we help!?" I am so incredibly blessed to live and work in such a loving community. I have recognized that while I do not hesitate to give love I often have difficulty receiving love. By opening myself up to the love of friends, family and even strangers I was able to wake each day feeling full of love and carried that love with me through every challenge. It had a profound effect.
It is not easy to ask for financial support. But I need it. The natural therapies I have been implementing so far have helped me to stay strong and fight. But they are costly. I can quote studies and success stories surrounding these therapies but it is my gut that is telling me they are right for me and they work.

I am determined - anyone who knows me would expect nothing less. I have so much more living and loving left - with the loves of my life Paul and Jack, with family and friends and with the school community I work with.
