Lost Cats Brighton Save our Rescue

New Premises rquired

We are a small registered Cat Rescue Charity that is not government funded and survives solely on the generosity of donations. We would like to appeal to everyone to help support us financially in purchasing a property with some land to secure the future of our rescue and the valuable work we do in the community.

Lost Cats Brighton is currently based in rented accomodation with a very understanding landlord. However for the future of our rescue and rehoming centre we need to secure a permanent base. Ron the founder is now 77 years of age and wishes that his charity will continue long after he is gone and this is why we are appealing for funds to purchase outright a new base

Over the years, and since the charity was founded in 2001, the founder and a committed group of people, all volunteers, provide a very valuable service for Brighton & Hove City and surrounding areas by way of helping people be reunited with their lost cats, taking in sick, lost or abandoned pets and caring for or rehoming unclaimed animals.  The charity is also involved with encouraging and educating people to neuter and care responsibly for their animals and providing help and support with this. We are often approached by the RSPCA/Police & Council to take in abandoned cats at a moments notice and where possible we will do what we can.

We have a strictly no kill policy and would only ever put a cat down if it was in pain and no hope of recovery. We rescue and rehome on average between 150 to 200 cats per year, however a new location would allow us to take in even more abandoned or lost cats. At present we have a capacity of up to 60 cats at any one time so we do face having to turn away cats when we are full.

Our charity has been commended for the valuable work we do, in the form of various different awards, and also regular articles in local newspapers. The latest award received was winner of the best charity in Hove and Portslade 2015 ' Hove at your service' awards in June.  There have also been many articles in The Argus over the years about the work lost cats do.

So, please, please support our appeal for financial funding in finding a suitable site to buy, so that we can continue the valuable service we provide.
