On October 18th the horse showing world lost a ledgend, One Impressive Beau. He was a beautiful buckskin quarter horse, a world champion, but he was much more. He was a gentle, calm, old soul, of an animal. He came about for one of my oldest and best friends Karen Gauger 23 years ago. Karen based her whole start up of Karen's Quarter Horse and Buckskin Ranch off this beautiful and gentle boy. She raised him and showed him through business and personal losses and never lost faith he would pull the dream of quiet and safe, and sane affordable horses for others. Recently business was going quite well for her and Beau was living out his golden years retired to stud, until October 18th. Sometime in the night for an unknown reason the barn Beau was kept in, started on fire. The fire started on the end of the barn away from the hay, and arson has not been ruled out. Unfortunately Beau was lost in the fire. There were 23 other horses who were not injured but are now left without food, shelter, and water.
There is an investigation underway as the fire suspiciously started on the end farthest from the hay . Karen is tough God fearing woman that has insurance but like, all people whom have experienced this type of loss, has found that due to the equipment that was stored there, not everything is going to be covered. Besides there is no amount of money that can replace a beautiful family member like Beau.
Karen is not asking for this money, nor is it some sort of money grabbing scheme, as her friend for 20 + years I have decided to do this for her. She has been a generous, kind, and good woman for all the years I have known her. She has opened her barn to day camps and lessons, and hopes to get kids interested in horses rather than getting in trouble and doing drugs. She has practiced her business with integrity and honesty for years and now could use a little help.
