Hello ALL!!
I am asking for your gracious donation to help me get to Rio to watch Daniel Dennis compete at the Olympics on TEAM USA for wrestling in August.
I knew this was going to be a pricey trip, but didn't think it was going to be this expensive. The funds would go to cover airfare, tickets to the wrestling event, hotel accommodations, food and transportation while in Rio.
I have grown up wrestling with Daniel since the grade school days at Big Hollow and I was a captain of the wrestling team when we competed together at Grant High School. While I was in college at the University of Parkside, I would travel back home in the mornings to get extra work in with Daniel and Jimmy Kennedy (who just finished 4th at the Olympic trials). I have traveled to Iowa to watch Daniel wrestle in home dual meets as well as a couple of other times to the NCAA's and other wrestling tournaments. During my first years coaching here, I actually brought some of the wrestlers down to Iowa to watch him wrestle and we ended up staying in his apartment for the night with him and a couple of other Iowa wrestlers (which was an awesome experience for the guys). I have traveled to New York in a beat up Honda Civic to New York to coach a wrestling camp with him and also spent 10 days in that old beat up truck everybody is talking about now in the middle of Colorado and Wyoming. Daniel has also been a great asset for Lake Forest wrestling as recent as this year when he drove in on a Sunday from Colorado Springs to work with the guys on outside single defense. He said "I could explain it, but I'd rather just show you. How about tomorrow?". When Regis made his state championship run, we traveled to Fox Lake to get an extra workout in with Daniel on a Sunday.
This is one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and I hope to be able to support Daniel as he leaves it all out there on the mat in Rio.
