Hello, my name is Donna Costley and I run Second Chance Bird Rescue & Rehab, West Coast Div.
We are located here in Wilton Ca. We purchase 5 acres last Dec, 2014 so we could build out door avaires for the bigger feather kids and we are trying to raise the funds to build a 1500 sq feet barn. This we will use to house the smaller birds and the ones that do not have feathers to keep them warm. Also to store their food and to make their toys.
I started this rescue 3 years ago because the need to have a place for these guys is so big.
People do no realize that when they purchase these birds they can live for 50 to 80 years. So they do not prepare for their feather companion in the event of their death.
Or they do not realize when they buy them that they are loud, messey and they do bite. And when they reach their teens they get an attitude just like our human children get and it's too much for some people to take.
We receive calls everyday as to why they need to give up their bird/birds.
Some of these feather kids can never go to a forever home. They either have been abused so bad or they are so plucked that no one can look beyound the fact they have no feather. If that is the case then they have a forever home right here with us.
Please help us make our dream come true and build a barn for the smaller guys or the ones that have no feathers. We currently have 37 birds in our care and your donation will help us keep our doors open to help others and to keep them warm and safe.
