Supporting Aussie Farmers

On Sunday 12th June, I will be competing in the Cairns Ironman event consisting of a 3.8km ocean swim, 180km bike ride and a 42km run. This will be, by far, the toughest event I have endeavoured to undertake to date and for this reason I would like to take the opportunity to help raise some much needed funds and awareness for a very worthy charity.. DROUGHT ANGELS.
Queensland is currently suffering its worst drought on record with many families now struggling to put food on their tables. In 2014 Drought Angels was founded by two ladies, Nicki and Tash, to help assist these Queensland farmers through this difficult period. During this time Nicki and Tash have worked tirelessly as volunteers, doing all their own fundraising, collecting and sorting through donations, putting together hampers (including pre-paid Visa cards) and doing feed and hay runs. For the farmers whose lives they have touched, Drought Angels has provided much more than a week's worth of groceries, they have provided comfort and support in knowing that they're not alone and given them the strength to continue battling this ongoing disaster.
Drought Angels is a program of the Chinchilla Family Support Centre, a not-for-profit organisation, and rely solely on the generosity of the greater community. Please donate to help them continue their incredible work in saving the lives and livestock of our farming families. Why should the farmers who feed us go hungry themselves?!
