YWAM Adventure DTS Website Hi friends,
As some of you know, I've recently been accepted into the Youth With a Mission (YWAM) discipleship training school in Colorado Springs, CO. I couldn't be more excited about the opportunity. It is something I've prayed about for some time, and it seems that God is leading me there this fall.
What really excites me about this program is that it is largely focused on sports based outreach. (I love sports!) September through December focuses on discipleship and sports. The core of the program is helping the young people involved to begin to own our own faith. Digging deep and spending one-on-one time with God, while studying and learning his word with fellow students.
The second leg of the program is the missions portion. January through February, the students will serve overseas, working in missions with youth, and doing outreach through several different mediums.
One of the biggest obstacles currently, is financing the trip. I currently have almost covered the discipleship portion ($4000), but the outreach portion, the second leg of the experience, totals $4000, which includes airfares etc. This is one of the biggest steps of faith for me, since I've always earned what I need on my own. Currently I am working two jobs, and I am takings as many work opportunities as I can handle, which keeps me busy seven days a week. I am also putting together a bakesale, carwash, and other fundraising events in the near future to help with the costs. No matter what, I know that if this where I am supposed to be, I'll do everything I can, trust God, and leave the results up to Him.
If all goes as planned, I will be leaving around September 12th, and will be doing the DTS portion until December. Then from January to the end of February be out of the country on outreach! I'd be honored to have your support. Here are some ways to lend you can help!
1.) Pray!!-There are a lot of moving parts to this, and so many details to work out in a short period of time.
2.) Share this post!- I understand there may be a lot of people who would like to support me, but aren't able to at this time. Sharing this would be really helpful, in helping me reach my goal.
3.) Contributing Financially- If God places it on your heart to contribute, I would be grateful! No gift is too small!
