Youth Conservation Corps New Truck!

Tax deductible
We need a new truck to transport youth to restore our forests and watersheds!!
Hundreds of thousands of acres have burned in the northern sierra over the last decade. The Sierra Institute for Community and Environment, a nonprofit organization, brings together diverse and mostly underserved 15 to 19 year-olds from urban Bay Area and rural northern Sierra counties to restore headwater forests and watersheds.
Due to increased demand among land management agencies for restoration crews along with increased youth interest, we’re expanding to four groups next summer and need another vehicle to haul our crews into the backcountry.
Our youth crews work 40 hours a week restoring the environment by reconstructing fire- and storm-damaged trails—like the Pacific Crest Trail, and restoring critical wildlife habitat. Crews also build fencing around fragile areas on local land trust land, work on projects to reduce wildfire risk, and have constructed handicapped access for Lassen Volcanic National Park, and more.
Plumas Conservation, Restoration and Education in Watersheds (P-CREW) is a youth conservation corps that that takes youth outdoors for five-weeks of intensive work. Not only do crews restore the land, they are learning the skills of a lifetime through hands-on conservation projects, lessons from resource professionals, and personal growth through living and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse crew. We’re building the next generation of land stewards.

Please help support efforts to restore California’s forests and watershed and develop the next generation of conservation leaders.

All donations will go directly to purchasing a used 4-wheel drive vehicle that will hold 6-8 passengers and can travel on rough, dirt roads to transport our youth crews to damaged landscapes in need of restoration.
