Youth Arts Alive - Arts Education

The population of Santa Maria, California is growing fast.  We surpased Santa Barbara in numbers years ago.   The main difference isn't poulation, but the large number of families who are poor in Santa Maria and the lack of positive programs for our youth.
  
The youth of Santa Maria need a summer arts education program as an alternative to drugs and gangs and violence.  

Youth Arts Alive is a brand new program designed to offer free classes in Music, Dance, Theatre and Visual Arts to young people 12 - 17 years of age.  Check out our website if you want to learn more about us: http://youthartsalive.org

The city has offered us a great space - The Maldonado Youth Center - in the center of town.  We've recruited the best teachers in singing, drumming, theatre mask and improvisation, dance and art.

To date, we've gotten two small grants. Our program director is donating his time.  But we still need to raise $1,200 to pay our teaching artists.

Classes begin June 26.  We don't have much time to meet our $1200 goal.  Won't you make a contribution today to provide the youth of Santa Maria with an opportunity to learn to act, to sing, to drum, to dance and to create art in our community?
