I am 36 years old, from England and I have breast cancer. I have lived in Utah USA for 13 years and I love it here.
My mom (English) married my step dad (American) when I was two and I have been in American schools ever since, as we were military and were lucky enough to be stationed all over the world.
I have been married for 10 years to my bestest friend in the whole world. I have 2 teenage step-daughters and 2 young sons. My family are my whole world.
I found a lump February of 2017 (right after my 36 birthday). I have no insurance due to my husband being self-employed and the poor economy. We qualify for medicaid and full treatment, but medicaid will NOT approve me because I have lived all over the world, and not just in America. I am being punsihed for being a military kid. This despite being married to a US citizen for over 10 years and having 2 US citizen sons.
My mom and dad from England, have paid over $10,000 and we have paid nearly $5000 in medical bills. This allowed me to receive the biopsy, diagnosis, genetic test, surgery etc. We can't afford any follow up treatment, such as the radiation I so desperately need and a hysterectomy as my ovaries need to be removed, as they are causing the cancer gene to excel and possibly come back. (levels of estrogen are not to exceed 100, my levels are 212......not good)
My aunt died at 44 from breast cancer and sadly left behind her daughter, my beautiful cousin, when she was very young. I cry every night as I fear this for my own children.
I am still receiving past due bills from further charges from medical. We are just not able to keep up, not alone finish my treatment, aswell as support my family.
I am so lost as I am so desperately wanting to finish my treatment and give myself a chance to live and be there for my family. I fear for my children, that are so young to loose their mother. For my husband to loose his wife and friend. I am just broken and defeated in my soul.
I was pursuaded by my lovely family and friends to start this journey of a GoFundMe and see if their truly is humanity in this world and to be treated less like an inconvenient piece of paper on someones desk and more like a person, wife and mother. Love to all.
