Student VR Film - Empathy & Society
Spende geschützt
We founded YouMatter Studios two years ago on the campus of University of Illinois. The mission is pretty simple; we want to bring people together with media. Orginally, that came in the form of gaming. As our startup has grown, we have shifted our focus towards film, particularly in the emerging Virtual Reality market.
Our current aim is to encourage empathy and constructive discussion through sociall conscious VR film. We think modern media has a way of creating rifts between communities and facilitating hateful or unproductive dialogue. This campaign serves to fund-raise for a project that we think can change the world.
While watching The Drive, audience members will be transported into the perspective of three characters-- a police officer, a young black driver, and the driver’s mother-- over the course of a traffic stop gone violent. We recognize that this is a delicate--yet important-- topic, so we are conducting a thorough research phase that involves interviewing police and individuals who have been victims of police violence. That’s where we are right now.
While the generosity of the community has already provided us with $5,000 (which has been used for editing and filming equipment), the scale of the film necessitates that we raise another $10,000 before we move into production. Please consider donating to this important cause. Any amount helps and even a share would be better than nothing. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Facebook page (YouMatter Studios) or send us an email at [E-Mail ausgeblendet].
