Yosemite Big Wall Climbing Trip

I am Travis Gunn, a Climber from Alabama. My climbing partner, Micah, and I have finally made the commitment of travelling to Yosemite this June so that we can attempt some of the original big wall climbs. To introduce Micah and I; we are both 18, attending school, and working part time to pay for climbing gear and trips. About two years ago, we both got addicted to climbing, starting with top rope and then progressing, and in the past year we have made several trips to North Carolina to enjoy our favorite style of climbing, multi pitch. We found our love for multi pitch climbing after buying our first set of Camalot C4’s and a set of BD stoppers and then travelled to our local crag at Steele, AL and found a whole new world.

Micah and I have had a 2 year dream of climbing in Yosemite, but more than likely this is the last summer we will both have the opprotunity to go due to Micah starting college next year while I am planning on interning next summer.

At this time we both feel that we are ready to voyage up something a bit larger than Whitesides 800 ft. cliff in North Carolina. With all of this in mind, we are still in need of more climbing gear. We have made an extensive list of gear that we may need and when adding everything up we became frightened to see we still need $2,000 more of gear to make our trip safe.

Both Micah and I are working and saving as much as possible to make this trip happen, but from student loans to unexpected car work we are not sure that this goal is possible for the two of us.
