Hi everyone!
My name is Karla Garcia and I will begin my second year at Wellesley College this fall. As a low-income student from South Central Los Angeles, it has been a privilege to study at this institution. I am a first generation college student working hard everyday towards my degree and my future so that I may one day be able to give back to my family, who have given sacrificed so much to me, but also to my community by becoming a successful lawyer.
I have been accepted into a study abroad program in Korea that will allow me to pursue my goals of learning my third language and US foreign policy in other countries. By learning about US policy in a different country, I hope to gain a wider and more thoughtful position about the US and how policies impact not just other nations, but those who live in the US. However, this trip will not be possible without a lot of sacrifice. I am receiving some financial-aid through my school, but it is not able to cover all of the expenses for this trip.
This is why I am turning to you -- my family members, friends, and communities who have supported my journey and growth for so many years. With your continued support and contribution, whatever it may be, I will be able to pay for my food expenses, tuition, my books and supplies etc.
I do not know if this opportunity will ever become available to me again, so please help make this dream possible! Anything helps!

Mi nombre es Karla Garcia y comenzaré mi segundo año en Wellesley College este otoño. Como estudiante de bajos ingresos de South Central Los Angeles, ha sido un privilegio estudiar en esta institución. Soy una estudiante universitaria de primera generación que trabaja arduamente todos los días para obtener mi título y mi futuro, para que algún día pueda devolverle a mi familia, que me han ofrecido tanto, pero también a mi comunidad, al convertirme en una abogado exitosa.
Fui aceptado en un programa de estudios en el extranjero en Corea que me permitirá perseguir mis objetivos de aprender mi tercer idioma y la política exterior de EE. UU. En otros países. Al aprender sobre la política de EE. UU. En un país diferente, espero obtener una posición más amplia y más reflexiva sobre los EE. UU. Y cómo las políticas afectan no solo a otras naciones, sino también a aquellas que viven en los EE. UU. Sin embargo, este viaje no será posible sin mucho sacrificio. Estoy recibiendo ayuda financiera a través de mi escuela, pero no puede cubrir todos los gastos de este viaje.
Es por eso que recurro a usted: a los miembros de mi familia, amigos y comunidades que han apoyado mi viaje y crecimiento durante tantos años. Con su continuo apoyo y contribución, cualquiera que sea, podré pagar mis gastos de comida, matrícula, mis libros y suministros, etc.
No sé si esta oportunidad volverá a estar disponible para mí una vez más, ¡así que ayuda a que este sueño sea posible! ¡Cualquier cosa ayuda!
