MAY the FIFTH, 1991 . . . the day our odyssey began as we repeated the vows we had written for our marriage ceremony to “Share God's love with all those we meet on our journey through life”.
And here we are lo these 26 years later still sharing through multiple avenues, among them – yoga! From a dance studio floor in 2009 to our small studio today we have served many aspiring yoginis through our I love My Body Yoga with Gail 'n' Ron.
Even though Gail has shared yoga for more than 36 years (the last 26 with Ron at her side) our coast to coast traveling kept us from establishing a permanent location until we settled in rural Levy County Florida where we were told as we attempted to rent a building that “They won't come”.
He was wrong.
They did.
Some of the original group are still with us . . . still improving . . . amazed at what they can do today when they told us “I can't” in the beginning. Our favorite student testimonial came from an 83-year-old when while attempting to lift her body into upward facing dog blurted out “Look Gail. I got my butt off the floor” and received a round of high fives and atta-girls!
Most of our students are over fifty and have done little to nothing in the way of exercise for many years before they show up at our door which presents its own set of challenges.
Our style is our own adaptation of the Sivananda style and encompasses more than just “doing” the asanas as we focus strongly on relaxation and the meaning of yoga – union – the joining of Body, Mind, and Spirit. It is in this place we truly know the Oneness of all. Discovering that relaxation will help the individual find and settle in to that peace within – the first step we must take to bring peace to our world. “As it is within, so without.”
We come to you today to ask your help to double the size of our current building which will allow us to serve more than twice as many students, many of whom are now drawing their social security.
